But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Are you helping the harvest? I am not sure who preached this, but this is from an outline written in the margin of my Bible.
- We have a tendency to postpone the harvest. We say: “One day…”
- The harvest is valuable; every soul has value.
- The harvest is ready.
- The laborers are special.
Jesus did not tell the disciples to pray for a big harvest in these verses. He said to pray for the laborers. The harvest is there. The harvest is ready. The harvest is valuable. The only thing needed are laborers to go and do the work.
